Friday: Be Authentic

“Bring your whole self to work. I don’t believe we have a professional self Monday through Friday and a real self the rest of the time. It is all professional and it is all personal”, Sheryl Sandberg.

Yesterday we talked about the importance of awareness. Sheryl Sandberg believes there is no difference between your ‘self’ at work and your ‘self’ at home. Today’s TOP TIP is perhaps the most important of all therefore: BE AUTHENTIC.

Sometimes its hard to be authentic in a new environment. You’re unsure of your surroundings, you’re out of your comfort zone and you’re all too aware of making a good first impression. Know and trust in what you have to offer. What are the strengths that got you here? What do you want to be known for at work? Have the belief that you have the potential for greatness but be true to yourself in your journey to get there.

Don’t be scared to be who you are. Part of your authenticity will be owning your new vulnerability which is a powerful gateway to personal development - remember it is ok to not have all the answers yet. There is no such thing as a stupid question. Put your hand up and we promise, others will do the same.

Strengths to use: Self-belief, self-awareness, humility, authenticity, courage
