We all know that being happy in our work helps us get more done. We are more effective and the time flies by!
Now it seems that certain professions are far happier than others, with my own – advertising – being a long way down the list.
A survey by Boundless last week revealed that unblocking loos and fixing leaks makes plumbers the happiest professionals in the country, with 55% saying they are ‘very happy’ in life. Not a single plumber questioned identified with being ‘unhappy’ in the job.
Advertising, on the other hand, is a miserable profession, with 42% saying they are unhappy with life. Maybe it’s all that work trying to make life seem as perfect as possible if only you’d try our brand.

How strong or weak that strength is determines how well and how often it is used, and how happy or energised people are to use it.
Everyone has strengths. But not everyone is clear about what their strengths are and how to capitalise them.
One thing is sure. Use your strengths in your work and you’re more likely to report higher levels of happiness and psychological vitality in life.
